This blog site is dedicated to the relatives of Nels & Ida Haugen of Berthold, North Dakota. There were 8 children born from the late 1800’s thru 1914. All of them have since passed and the location of many of their descendants is unknown.
This family site is designed to serve the descendants of Victor Haugen, Donald Haugen, Josephine Haugen and Lyle Haugen. We would be pleased to hear from any offspring of: Harold (Dute) Haugen (Florida) or Helen Haugen Gretz (Minneapolis).
Ann Haugen never married; she was a stylish single woman all her adult life. Norah Haugen married Ken Overby and lived in Concord, Minnesota ; they had no children.
We would be pleased to hear from Lyle Haugen’s family in British Columbia. Lyle married Jane, a Boston Socialite who became a Librarian. They lived in Minnesota and had 3 children: Linda, Marlea and Lyle, Jr. In the 1970’s they moved to British Columbia to homestead undeveloped land around the Dawson Creek/Fort St. John area. Lyle Sr was a wonderful historian and I will attempt to retrieve and post some of the information he previously wrote on past Christmas cards to me.
Josephine was the oldest girl and she migrated East to Holden, Massachusetts. I knew her as Aunt Jo when she lived in Connecticut. She was married to Will and later John. Aunt Jo adopted a young girl named Dorothy who is actually the age of my parents. In polite society, I was encouraged to refer to her as Aunt Dorothy. Technically she was my 2nd cousin; although we were not blood-related. Because I grew up in New England, we saw Aunt Dorothy and her family frequently. I would like to include her family in our blog as well. They are The Sargeants of Boston: Dorothy & Lorimer, William (Bill), Robert and Lucy-Grace.
I want very much for all the members of our family to be able to post their memories, history and new information & Pictures so we can all stay in touch regardless of geographic separation.
This new website is dedicated to my norwegian family that originated in the DesLacs and Berthold area of North Dakota in the early 1900’s.
More importantly, this site is dedicated to the memory of my beloved parents: Donald M. Haugen and Norah B. Haugen.
